Abstract

The research was conducted in order to analyze the influence of language background the students at English Departement toward the learning process of English as a foreingn language. The study is also carried out in order to identify the aspects of frist language and their characteristics features which influence the process of acquiring the foreign language. By using contrastive analysis error analyze –the theories offered by Lado and chomsky respectively, this study tries to analyze the interference of the learners’ first language and its effect toward the result of the learning process. Data was taken from learners’ tasks in oral and written froms. Some dictionaries and grammar book are used as supplementary. The errors and mistakes found are identified by using books and also the native speaker is invoved, especially for identifiying semantical erros. The analysis the first language and target language. In some cases, they occur since there is a cultural gap and the process of tranference.
