Abstract

This research is concerned with the dependence of rural poor people to protection forest. As in many case they me assurned as forest destroyer or being obstacles of foreset conservation program. The major obstacle in forest conservation is a lack of understanding concerning the point of view between the parties involved, especialilly when it comes to the perception of nature. Oftenly, local perception and needrs are ignored by other stakeholders who have power, so that it potentially emerging conflictls. This study designed to analyse the relationship of socio-economic and cultural factors ful using Non Timber Forest koducts (NfFPs) for household, economic and tradition need requirement. It is viewed necessary in determining forest conservation program. During the time, many people only concern about timber utilization and seldom to see, nom timber ones, NTFPs are consist of plants and animals that useful for human being. Research abouf *The Dependence of Ramba Sihasur Forest Village toward Non Timber Forest Products fNTFPs) of Dolok Sipirok (CADSi)" were conducted on October 2008 until January 2009. The goal of this research are to explain why the villagers still defending their interaction with CADSi when the forest ban prohibitiedi thern, to identiff kinds of NTFPs re used and also to analyze male and fermailer participation in collecting NTFPs. Research used qualitative and quantitative approarchr, to gain the data and information" that expected its useful in analysis and findings interpretation. Furthermore, NTFPs utiluatian and local perception of the CADSi. bordering RaMba Sihasur were investigated. The purpose was to assess the role and importance CADSi has for the villagers" as well as related socio-economic and culturall aspects.
