Abstract

Beef cows is a commodity of strategis ranch because it is a especialy supplier of requirement of flesh of society. Development strategy of ranch of beef cows in this time less effective, so that not yet given benefit which significant for the prosperity of economics farmer of breeder in Tanah Datar District. Some factor becoming its cause for example: Low quality of breeder human potential; resident growth rate which incommensurate to growth of ox livestock population; difficult to change tradition conservancy of ekstensif become intensively; and low of technological adoption level . Potency of resources foods in the form of grasses food livestock especially exploiting of waste agriculture of food crop like available maize and paddy enough but not yet been exploited. Potency development of ranch of crosscut ox in Tanah Datar District need correct policy support of local government. Strategy development of ranch of beef cows in Tanah Datar District able to be applied by (a) Development of quality of resources breeder which orienting agribisnis; (b) Optimalisasi exploiting and protection of local natural resources; (c) Development of institute of and breeder of cooperation; (d) Development of region pursuant to pre-eminent livestock commodity; and (e) Strategy approach of agribisnis with upstream to downstream subsistem.
