Abstract
ABSTRACT Development of a wheelbarrow design has drawn attention from practitioners. In this research was developed the design of loading and unloading system of the wheelbarrow. Generally, loading and unloading system of the wheelbarrow is not developed yet. The system was constructed by four bar linkage mechanisms with consideration of simplification and weight of mechanical components from overall wheelbarrow system. Stages of research to the design loading and unloading systems are: (i) the study of literature, (ii) selection of design concepts, (iii) determination of design parameters, (iv) simulation design. The simulation consists of kinematic synthesis to obtain the optimum dimensions of link and static analysis to determine the force input that has to be provided by the operator in the operation of loading and unloading systems. Concering the result of design was obtained the configuration of the loading and unloading system by four bar mechanism which is comfortable for operator. It is required 149 N and 81 N force to operate the wheelbarrow during unloading and moving process respectively.
