Abstract

The economy is impossible to be given ti the market mecanism because not all of the economic function can be supplied by the market, finally the unbalance in supplying needs will be happen because of market mecanism prefer to choose economic activity that give profite. Because of that the function of government is extremely need in completing the public need that cannot be supplied by the market. As the result, government have to make policy in expenditure allocation namely government expenditure. A sample of government expenditure is the expenditure in education field. The government expenditure include the expenditure of education will be impact the adding of output agregatly. This reasearch is aim to analize if there is a causallity relation between government expenditure in education sector and the growth of economy in Indonesia, and to analize the policy implication of government expenditure in education sector based on the impact of the relation form both of that variable. By using the Indonesia GDP data (in case of the economic growth acceleration percentage) and the realisation data of development expenditure for education (in case of percentage to the GDP) made in simple regretion with 3 (three) lag. The result of this reasearch show that the expenditure of education has the positive and negative impact to the growth of economy in Indonesia on the obsevation in 1971 to 2004. In the other side, the good and stable of economic growth will support the government ti increase their expenditure because the increase of demand to the goods/public service, include the expenditure for the increase of service in education field.
