Abstract
ABSTRACT
An investigation has been carried out about ethanolic extract of “Tali putri” (Cassytha filiformis L.) concerning its diuretic effect in vivo and its solvation effect in vitro on kidneys stone. The diuretic effect was studied on is male rats which were devided into five groups which consist of control positive (treated with furosemide), control negative (treated with 5% NaCMC solution) and three groups treated with extract in three different dosages (37,5 mg per KBW, 75 mg per KBW and 150 mg per KBW). The rats were treated for 15 days and urine volume were measured for 24 hours and 2 hours at day 5, 10 and at day 15. The data were analysed with two ways ANOVA followed with Duncan’s test at 95% degree of significance. It was found that the urine volume at 24 hours was highly significant influenced by treatment factor (P<0,01) and significantly influenced by duration of treatment (P<0,05). While urine volume at 2 hours was highly significant influenced by treatment factor and duration of treatment (P<0,01). It was also found that the solvation effect of the studied extract was also increased with dosages studied.
