Abstract

ABSTRACT THE OPTIMATION OF IODINE TRANSPORT VIA CHLOROFORM MEMBRANE WITH VITAMIN C AS ACCEPTOR PHASE IN BULK LIQUID MEMBRANE TECHNIQUE By Novas Vania Agussalim Bachelor of Science in Chemistry Faculty of Mathematic and Natural Sciences Andalas University Advised by refinel M.Si and Imelda M.Si The research about Iodine transport has been done via bulk liquid membrane technique which consist of 10 mL of I2/KI solution as a sourch phase, 20 mL of Vitamin C solution as acceptor phase and 30 mL of chloroform as membrane phase. The procedure operation technique was supported by stirrer magnetic stirring at 100 rpm. The content of iodine in source phase and acceptor phase was determined by UV-Vis Spectrophotometer at 567 nm of λmaks. From the result, it can be concluded that the optimum condition of iodine transport was 4 x 10-3 N with the pH at source phase was 3, the concentration of acceptor phase was 4 x 10-3 N, the comparison I2:KI in source phase was 2:4, and the optimum transport time was 90 minutes. The utilizationof bulk liquid membrane technique with Vitamin C (C6H8O6) as the stripping agent in acceptor phase is potensial enough to transport iodine from source phase to the acceptor phase via chloroform membrane with the number of transport iodine was 90,84% and the value of flux resulted was 125,76 x 10-9 L. cm-3. minute-1.
