Abstract

PENGARUH INHIBITOR EKSTRAK DAUN TEH (CAMELIA SINENSIS) TERHADAP LAJU KOROSI BAJA CARBON STEEL SCHEDULE 40 GRADE B ERW ABSTRAK Telah dilakukan penelitian mengenai pengaruh konsentrasi inhibitor ekstrak daun teh (Camelia Sinensis) terhadap laju korosi baja Karbon Schedule 40 Grade B ERW. Metode yang digunakan adalah pengurangan massa. Medium korosif yang digunakan adalah NaCl 3%. Lama perendaman divariasikan yaitu 3 dan 6 hari untuk melihat kemampuan inhibitor menghambat laju korosi. Sebelum direndam dalam larutan korosif, baja karbon direndam dalam larutan inhibitor ekstrak daun teh dengan konsentrasi 1%-5% selama 24 jam. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa efisiensi inhibisi korosi yang paling besar terjadi pada konsentrasi 4 %, baik untuk perendaman 3 hari maupun 6 hari dengan efisiensi masing-masing adalah 74,32 % dan 73,41 %. Morfologi permukaan yang diperoleh menggunakan foto optik trinokuler dari baja karbon Schedule 40 Grade B ERW memperlihatkan permukaan baja yang dilapisi dengan ekstrak daun teh mengalami korosi lebih sedikit. Kata kunci : laju korosi, inhibitor ekstrak daun teh, NaCl EFFECT OF TEA LEAF EXTRACT INHIBITORS (camelia sinensis) ON CORROSION RATE OF GRADE B SCHEDULE 40 ERW CARBON STEEL ABSTRACT A research on the effect of concentration of tea leaf (Camelia sinensis) extract inhibitor on the corrosion rate of grade B schedule 40 ERW carbon steel has been done. The method used is mass reduction. Corrosive medium used is 3% NaCl. Time of immersion is varied, ie 3 and 6 days to see the ability of inhibitor to inhibit the rate of corrosion. Before soaked in to corrosive medium, carbon steel is immersed in a solution of tea leaf extract inhibitor with concentration of 1% -5% for 24 hours. The results showed that the maximum corrosion inhibition efficiency occur at inhibitor concentrations of 4%, both for 3 and 6 days of immersion with efficiency respectively 74,32% and 73,41%. Surface morphology, which is obtained using an optical trinoculer of, of grade B schedule 40 ERW carbon steel which has coated with tea leaf extract had less corrosion.
