Abstract

Our daily life can not be separated from the presence of the mass media, because, one function of the media is to inform people. Mass media can influence the way we see the world. The news content tends to be influenced by the interests and ideology of the media. The viewpoint known as media framing. The topic of this study is to see the objectivity of the news from the media against the media framing of the conflict FPI vs Residents in Kendal, Central Java, on online news portal antaranews.com and republika.co.id, on last July. The analysis of media frame from both portal, antaranews.com and republika online are traced from the constructivism perspective, using framing analysis method, which is based on the framing theory of Robert N. Entman. While the framing analysis process is reviewed by Robert N. Entman’s framing elements such as: define problems, diagnose cause, make a moral judgment, and treatment recommendation. The results of this study indicates that there are some different viewpoints on each media. Although Republika Online is an Islamic media, it’s proved to have more objective viewpoint when compared with antaranews.com who tend to side with the government.
