Abstract

ABSTRAK Motif Penggunaan Twitter Pada Siswa SMP dan SMA di Kota Batusangkar (Studi Komparatif Kuantitatif Pada Siswa SMP Dan SMA) Oleh : Delfi Erizaldi 0910863067 Pembimbing : Dr. Asmawi, MS Yayuk Lestari, S.Sos, M.A Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui motif penggunaan jejaring sosialTwitterpada siswa SMP dan SMA serta perbedaan dampak positif dan negatif Twitter pada siswa SMP dan SMA Kota Batusangkar. Motif penggunaan media yang dikemukaan oleh McQuail yaitu motif informasi (Survaillance), motif identitas pribadi (Personal Identity), motif integrasi dan interaksi sosial (Personal Relationship), dan motif hiburan (Diversion). Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian komparatif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Menggunakan metode survei dengan menggunakan kuesioner, objek penelitian adalah 100 responden yang merupakan siswa SMA dan 100 responden SMP yang aktif menggunakan jejaring sosial. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah teknik clusterdan purposive sampling. Teori Uses and Gratification digunakan untuk menganalisis hasil penelitian. Untuk melihat perbedaan pengaruh pengguna jejaring sosial tersebut digunakan analis uji beda T-test dengan bantuan SPSS 20 . Secara keseluruhan dapat disimpulkan bahwa siswa di Kota Batusangkar baik siswa SMP ataupun SMA mempunyai motif yang hampir sama yaitu motif interaksi dan integrasi sosial, tapi terdapat perbedaan dimana siswa SMA lebih tertarik untuk mendapatkan informasi melalui Twitter dibandingkan siswa SMP. Dari hasil uji statistik dampak positif penggunaan Twitter terhadap siswa SMP dan SMA, tidak didapatkan perbedaan yang signifikan pada dampak positif penggunaan Twitter terhadap siswa SMP dan SMA dan pada dampak negatif terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada dampak negatif penggunaan Twitter terhadap siswa SMP dan SMA di Kota Batusangkar. The motives of media usage as proposed by McQuail, which are information motive (Surveillance), Personal Identity, social integration and interaction motive (Personal Relationship), and entertainment motive (Diversion). The research is categorized as comparative research with quantitative approach. Using questionnaire-based survey method, the object of the research is 100 respondents which are students of Junior High School and 100 respondents which are students of Senior High School who actively use both of the social networks. The sample is acquired through purposive technique and accidental sampling. The theory of Uses and Gratification, applied to analyze the result. Furthermore, the analysis of difference-test, T-test, with the help of SPSS 20, is applied to acquire the different influence social network users. Thoroughly, it is concluded that the users of Twitter in Batusangkarhave a similar motivation namely social integration and interaction motive, but occur the different where adolescent of Senior High School have some interested to gain a information than Junior High School adolescent. From T-test analysis occur that have no different of positive influence but,in other case negative influence have a different influence ,between Junior High School and Senior High School adolescent in Batusangkar.
