Abstract

ABSTRACT Optimization Transport of Acetic Acid through Bulk Liquid Membrane Technique Using Triethylamine as Carrier By: Oktaviga Wulandari (1010412018) Advised by Djufri Mustafa, M.Sc and Imelda, M.Si Acetic acid transport from the donor phase into the acceptor phase had been researched by using triethylamine as carrier through bulk liquid membrane consist of 12 mL acetic acid in donor phase, 24 mL NaOH in acceptor phase and 30 mL chloroform in membrane phase. The experiment operation technique was assisted by magnetic stirrer mixing at 250 rpm speed within 15 minutes equilibrium time. The concentration of acetic acid transported to acceptor phase and the remaining in the donor phase were determined by titrimetric method. The result showed that the optimum transport of acetic acid was at 1.5 N acid concentration (HCl) in the donor phase and concentration of acetic acid was 0.15 M in donor phase, triethylamine concentration was 5x10 -3 M in the membrane phase, 0.08 M NaOH concentration in the acceptor phase, and stirring 60 minutes long. In this condition the percentage obtained transport of acetic acid in acceptor phase was 76.00% and the remaining in the donor phase was 11.67%. Keywords : Acetic Acid, triethylamine, bulk liquid membrane
