While driving a car on the rain, the more raindrops attached on the surface of the
windshield, the faster wipers move. Therefore, a system which automatically
control the speed of the wipers motor is required. The speed of the wiper motor
can be adjusted by changing the value of Pulse Width Modulator ( PWM ). In this
study, two censors are used to measure diameter (mm) and volume (mm3) of the
raindrops . Input from both of the censors are processed by using fuzzy logic
(Tsukamoto method) in order to produce the output value of PWM. Experiments
are conducted with various speed, ranging from 0 km/h (at idle), 10 km/h, 30
km/h, 50 km/h, to 70km/h . The experimental results show that the lowest PWM
value is 30, that is when the system tested during idle state (0 km/h), where the
raindrops diameter and volume detected by censors are 0 mm and 0 mm3. In the
other hand, the highest PWM value is 70, that is when the system tested during
speed in 70 km/h. Where the raindrops diameter and volume detected by censors
are 4.75 mm and 2800mm3 .
