Abstract

ABSTRACT Effect of Ni (II) on the Transport Co (II) Through Bulk Liquid Membrane Technique with β-naphthol as Carrier By: Nindy Vorinda Putri (1010412016) Advised Djufri Mustafa, M.Sc and Refinel, M.Si This study was conducted to see the effect of N(ii) on percentage transport Co (II) using the method of bulk liquid membrane phase with β-naphthol as carrier because Co and Ni is in group and the same period. Transport Co (II) from the feed phase to the stripping phase was examined using β-naphthol as a carrier through bulk liquid membrane consisted of a 12 mL solution of Co (II) 3.389 x10-4 M as the source phase, 24 mL of HNO3 as phase recipients, and 30 ml of chloroform in the membrane phase. Technical trial operation assisted by stirring with a magnetic stirrer speed of 340 rpm with an equilibrium time of 15 minutes. The concentration of Co (II) whic transported to stripping phase and the rest in the feed phase was determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometer at 240.7 nm λmaks. The result showed that the optimum transport of Co (II) is at pH 8 in the feed phase, the concentration of β-naphthol 6.8 x10-4 M in the membrane phase, 0.05 M HNO3 concentration in the stripping phase, stirring 60 minutes long. In this condition the percentage obtained transport Co (II) in the stripping phase and the remaining 77% and 20.17% feed phase. Judging from the effect of Ni (II) on the transport of Co (II) can be concluded that the two metals are difficult to separate using optimum conditions of Co (II), but Ni (II) did not affect the percentage of transport of Co (II) to the receiving phase.
