Abstract

West Sumatra province has many prehistoric archaeological sites. Most of the sites are found at Limapuluh Koto district. The kinds of archaeological finding at those sites are menhir (stone act), and some of them decorated. The decorated menhir at archaeological sites in Limapuluh Koto are decorated with many ornamental design like geometrical and floral design. That prehistoric ornamental design has linked with the Minangkabau traditonal ornamental design that are used at tradisional and modern buildings like house, surau, and mosque.
