Abstract
Environmental sustainability will be maintained, if we can keep the behavior of the trash in its place. Most of the people know that littering is a commendable act and show indifference to environmental sustainability. However, based on observations made on the campus of the University of Andalas, the behavior of littering is still a lot of looks.
Location of the study is the campus of the University Andalas, Determination of the location of the random sampling while sampling with random cluster sampling. Data were obtained through questionnaires, documentation and interviews with agency managers hygiene at the University of Andalas. Analysis of the data was tested by using ANOVA analysis (Analysis of Variance).
The results showed that the waste management at the University of Andalas currently still largely conventional is concentrated on the "capture, transport, waste". There is no standardized system of operational techniques because until now there is no operational guidelines for the implementation of the system of waste management techniques. Operational implementation is done through cooperation with third parties (private) and supervision of the implementation is done by the Sub-Division of Household rectorate and Sub Division General of each faculty. The number of community college Sweet Lemons reached 24 210 people consisting of students, faculty, administrators and merchants is needed for better management. Socio-economic factors include employment, age, gender and level of education was not entirely related to the behavior of the campus community in waste management. Only employment and education levels are quite have a relationship with the behavior of the campus community.
