Abstract
This study is aimed at describing the use of personal (pro)noun in Indonesian language within intercultural interaction. The data are taken from any utterance uttered in Indonesian language between differently cultural background participants in Yogyakarta. Having referred to the grammatical and pragmatic theory, it is found that (pro)noun used is commonly derived from (1) Indonesian, (2) local, and (3) foreign language which pragmatically functions to (a) indicate the intimacy, (b) show off, (c) express the anger, (d) practice, and (e) bring about the comic effect.
