Abstract

The use of botabical insecticides is one alternative in the plant pests control that can be applied in harmony with other components of integrated pest management. One of the plants that can be used as botanical insecticides is Piper aduncum (Piperaceae). The research conducted to evaluate the bioactivity of P. aduncum fruit extracts and fraction against the larvae of C. pavonana, to study the bioactivity of the formulation, to study the persistence of formulation, to study phytotoxicity of formulation, and their safety to the adult Diadegma semiclausum parasitoid. Biological test using second instar larvae C. pavonana by the leaf-residual bioassay, and the contact method. The research results showed that hexane extract of P. aduncum fruit as insecticide with LC50 0,12%, and the higher than hexane fraction (LC50 0,21). P. aduncum fruit the toxin (contact and stomach poison) and antifeedant. Antifeedant activity of hexane extract at a concentration 0f 0.07-0.17% is 39.84-91.34% and development time of C. pavonana as longer than control. Formulation of fruit extract P. aduncum 20EC and 20WP strong insecticidal activity with LC50 0,11% and 0,13%, respectively. Formulation of P. aduncum fruit extract 20EC light phytotoxic effect on brocoli, while 20WP formulation had not phytotoxic effect. Formulation of P. aduncum fruit extract 20EC and 20WP is not persistent, and only survive in the field for three days. Formulation of P. aduncum fruit extract 20EC and 20WP was nontoxic to natural enemies. Result of this research shows that P. aduncum fruit extract 20WP as environtment friendly in pest management.
