Abstract

The pollen tube growth and embryo development of crossing between red chilli as maternal parent and small hot chilli were stimulated by application of growth hormones exogenously. The pollen tube growth is stimulated by 2,4-D, and the embryo development are stimulated by growth hormones. The treatments of 2,4-D as follow : 1) destilated water (control); 2) 50 ppm 2,4-D; 3) 100 ppm 2,4-D; and 4) 150 ppm 2,4-D. The treatments of growth hormones as follow : 1) destilated water (control); 2) 100 ppm kinetin, 50 ppm IAA dan 25 ppm GA3; 3) 200 ppm kinetin, 100 ppm IAA dan 50 ppm GA3; and 4) 300 ppm kinetin, 150 ppm IAA dan 75 ppm GA3. Kinetin, IAA and GA3 are applicated every day respectivelly begin one day after pollination up three days after pollination. To observe the pollen tube growth, pollinated gynecium were processed by fixation, staining, softening and clearing. To observe the embryo development, ovaries were collected and processed by a clearing method. The result showed that 2,4-D treatment shouldn’t affected pollen tube growth. Application of 100 ppm kinetin, 50 ppm IAA and 25 ppm GA3 continuously every day able to develop embryos, where seven days after pollination will be produce 37.31% of heart stage embryo and 1.04% of torpedo stage embryo. While without application of growth hormones will be produce 39.08% of globular stage embryo globular in only embrio. The treatment of growth hormones able to delayed degeneration of embryos up to 10 days after pollination. Key words: growtg hormones, red chilli, small hot chilli
