Abstract

The research to analyze the plant nutrient of N, P and K which is related to yield of gambir was conducted in Siguntur, Pesisir Selatan, West Sumatra Province, from October to December 2000. The aim of the research is to analyze the role of N, P and K as plant nutrients, respectively, and their relationship to gambir yield. The method of this research was surveying. The data which were collected consist of the nutrients content in the soil samples that gathered through the way of stratified proporsive sampling and yield of gambir in each representative land catena. Land catena of the samples in which were collected comprises 1) the land with slope of 15-25% 2) 25-45% ,and 3) more than 45%. Laboratory analysis on nutrients content in the soil samples was conducted in the Laboratory of IAEA Andalas University. The data were analyzed by using a multiple regression, subsequently. The results showed that the N nutrient elements in the soil had a positive role on yield of gambir and the otherwise for N and P nutrients respectively, had negative role on yield of gambir. Key words: N,P,K nutrients, gambir, catena
