Abstract

An experiment to study the effect of NAA and BAP con¬centration on embryo culture of Pinang sirih was conduct¬ed at Tissue Culture Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Andalas University from June to October 2002.The objec¬tive of the experiment was to get the best combination of NAA and BAP concentration in forming good plantlet through embryo culture. The experiment was a factorial experiment with two factors, and it was arranged in Com¬pletely Randomized Design with three observations. The first factor consisted of three levels of NAA concentration, that is, 4, 6, and 8 ppm, and the second factor consisted of three levels BAP concentration, namely, 0, 0.5, and 1.0 ppm. The result of this experiment showed that at 4 ppm NAA gave very good formation of shootlet. The formation of shootlet and rootlet were also very good at 0 ppm BAP.
