Abstract

The experiment was conducted on farmer land at Kelurahan Pasar Ambacang Kecamatan Kuranji Kota Padang West Sumatra Province on Alluvial soil at altitude 40 m above the sea level from January to May 2002. A randomized block design with four replications was used in arranging the treatments. Treatments were dosage of KCl fertilizer namely O (control); 50, 100, 150, and 200 kg KCl per hectare. Result of the experiment showed that various dosage of KCl fertilizer given to hybrid corn Andalas 4 did not give significantly different effect towards the growth and ear component of that corn plant, except for dosage 50 kg KCl per hectare. Treatment 50 kg KCl per hectare gave the best growth for the height of the Andalas 4 hybrid corn because it showed the tallest plant among the others.
