Abstract

A two-way factorial experiment to find the best growth media and the concentrations of vitamin B1 on growth of Dendrobium sp. plantlets in community pots has been carried out from April to July 2005 at Balai Pengkajian Bioteknologi BPPT Puspiptek Serpong, Tangerang. Treatments were com¬binations of growth media as follows coconut-husk dust, bracken, and rice husk and the concentra¬tions of vitamin B1 which are 0, 1, 2 and 3 mL/L (w/v). Result indicate that Dendrobium root im¬mersed for 3 minutes in 2 mL/L vitamin B1 grew best in community pots filled with either coconut-husk dust or bracken. Dendrobium roots treated with 3 mL/L vitamin B1 grew best in rice husk. Key word: Dendrobium, coconut-husk dust, bracken, rice husk, Vitamin B1
