Abstract

An experiment was carried out at the plant Tissue Culture Lab. of Departement of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, Andalas University Padang from April to September 2007. The objetive of the experiment to obtain the best alginate concentration to maintain microshoot vigorous on seed encapsulation. The treatments were arranged in completely Randomized Design with 10 replication. The treatments were : 1.0 % 1, 5 %, 2.0 %, 2.5 %, dan 3.0 %. Observation included explants with capsul conditian, time of shoot inisitiation, plantlet height, root height, percentage of shoot live number of shoot, and number of leaf. Result indicated that 2.5 % alginate the best to support capsul conditian, plant height, root height and percentage og shoot live.
