Abstract

The objective of this community service is to transfer knowledge and skill to farmers how to manage water use effectively for paddy field, how to make compost using local materials from agricultural residues such as rice straw, sawdust and livestock manures. Community service was conducted by lecture and practice regarding effective water use effectively for paddy field and composting technique using local microorganism (MOL) as activator. The conclusion of all program series in Inbis Sejahtera farmer group Kecamatan Kuranji Padang is management of effective water use for paddy field can be accepted by farmers and most of them have practice this method in the field. This program generally has been done completely and the ability of farmers to produce compost using MOL as activator is the indicator of successful. Compost has been used as fertilizer in their paddy fields.
