Abstract

Increasing in the number of population will be followed by increasing of food demand, including demand of beef as one of the source of proteins. One of the efforts to fulfil the demand of beef is by developing of cow small business. The problem which is faced by most of the cow business owner is less effectiveness of food supply particularly king grass as many of king grass part which is not eaten by the cow. This community service activity has made as well as introduced king grass chopper machine. Performance evaluation of machine shows that the average of chopping capacity is 180 kg/hr, frequency of rotation of chopping knife is 1320 rpm, noisy rate is 875 – 956 db and the length of cut king grass is 1 – 15 cm. The chopping cost is less 50% than the cost of manual chopping. Introduction of machine was conducted by inform or explain to the user regarding the use, operation method, maintenance, and the cost of chopping. The activity assists the cow small business owner to cope with the need of king grass in order to increase effectiveness of cow feeding. Keywords: king grass, introduction, chopper machine
