Abstract

Analitical method for the determination of estradiol in pure form and solid pharmaceutical preparations by voltammetric techniquewith a hanging mercury drop electrode had been developed. The analysis of ethinyl estradiol had been performed using differential pulse voltammetry. A deposition stage at -500 mV had been applied prior to analysis followed by an anodic stripping step. Ethinyl estradiol was analyzed in methanol and 0.1 M sodium carbonate buffer of pH 11.5 (1 : 1). The peak potensial (Ep) of ethinyl estradiol was -348.40 mV. The detection limit of ethinyl estradiol was 2.94 x 10-6 M. Ethinyl estradiol in tablet preparations could be identified and assyed without separation. The recovery of ethinyl estradiol of 6 µg/ml in simulation tablet was 98.20%. Keywords : ethinyl estradiol, voltammetric, solid prarmaccutical preparation.
