Abstract

Separation of nitrate and iodide ions in ion chromatography has been investigated on octadecylsillica (ODS) column with modified with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). Variation in composition of sodium chloride, sodium perchlorate and phosphate buffer solutions were used as eluent for separation nitrate and iodide ions. Optimum condition for separation if ntrate and iodide ions was obtained on eluent composition; 0,03 M NaCl – 0,05 M NaClO4 – 5,0 mM phosphate buffer (pH 6,0) at 1,0 mL/min of flow rate and UV detection at 277 nm. Retention times of nitrate and iodide ions were on 2,58 and 3,16 minutes, respectively and 1,16 of resolution. The determination coefficient (R2) of each ion measured on range of 25 mg/L were 0,994 for nitrate and 0,992 for iodide. Relative Standard deviation (RSD) of nitrate and iodde ions in sixth repeatedly were 4,84 and 7,42 % for detector signal and 0,70 and 1,04 % for retention time.
