Abstract

An assay of antimicrobial activities of the aethanolic extract of Ocimum basillicum Linn. leaves on several Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria,and on molds by using disc agar diffusion method have been done. The result of experiment indicated that the tested extract inhibits only the growth ofBacillus sereus (MiC : 10 mgldisc), Bacillus zubtilis (MIC : 10 mgldisc),Micrococcus luteus (MIC = 5 mgldisc), and Staphylococcus aureus (MIC : 20 mgldisc) all of the bacteria belong to the Gram positive group.
