Abstract

The diversity study of wild glnger (Zingiberaceae) at limestone area in West Sumatra was carried out. This study was based on morphological characters as reference for taxonomic identification. Sixty five specimens of Zingiberaceae from some of limestone area in West Sumatra were examined to clarify its diversity. The voucher specimens were deposited at Herbariurn Universitas Andalas (ANDA). The results indicated that those collections comprised of thirty five species belonging to twelve genera. The highest species numbers (7 species) were detected in Etlingera and Globba. Camptandra parvula (King ex Bak.) Ridl. was specific in limestone area.
