Abstract

The effect of waste v/aters from PT Incasi Raya and PT Batang hari barisan industries on the qualrty of river water of Batang Arau Padang has been studied. Water samples were taken from the river before and after entered by the waste water. The waste water samples were taken from each industries and combination of both wastes before entering the river. The samples were analyzed toward physical parameters (temperature, total dissolved solid, suspended mamer) and chemical parameters (pH, biological oxygen demand, chemical oxygen demand, Ca, Mg, Fe, Zn and Cu). The results showed that the waste waters did not change the quallty of river water (Group B of Standard Quality Kep-}Z/MENKLH/V1988,even though the increase of the parameter values were observed. Based on parameters determined, the waste water of PT Batang Hari Barisan belonged to Group fV, while those of PT Incasi Raya and the combination of the wastes belong to Group Itr of Standard'Sflaste 'W'ater Quality.
