Abstract
L\IVERSAL PRECAUTIONS, STERILIZATION, ANd MEDICAL EVALUATION \lan1' dermatologic surgical procedures are so uncomplicated that extensive patient evaluatron is unnecessary. But physicians should not be lulled into complacency because of the apparent simplicity of the surgery. Patient evaluation, appropriate to the surgery, is a necessity to reduce the possibility of surgical complications. Patient evaluation can be viewed in terms of general considerations, as well as those more relevant to the surgery being contemplated. During the evaluation of the patient, it is also an ideal time to establish a rapport and to discuss possible complications and expectations pertinent to the anticipated surgery. Possible side effects should be documented and be a part of the patient consent form
