Abstract

It has been determined the reaction condition of Cd(II) and Cu(II) with oxine as complexing agent from not selective into selective with solvent extraction by addition of oxine at certain concentration, adjusting pH and the addition of masking agent to the two metal ions mention above separately or in a mixture. The result showed that optimum pH extraction used 0,1 M oxine were 9-11 for Cu-oxine complex and 7-8 for Cd-oxine complex, without addition of masking agent. By addition of masking agent Cu-oxine complex was extracted into organic phase but Cd-oxine was not. So the oxine reaction using NTA was selective in Cu and cd.
