Abstract

The objective of this community service is to transfer knowledge and skill to farmers how to make compost using local materials from agricultural residues such as rice straw, sawdust and livestock manures. Community service was conducted by lecture and practice composting technique using local microorganism (MOL) as activator. The conclusion of all program series in Minang Setia farmer group Kecamatan Kuranji Padang is can be accepted by farmers and most of them have practice this method in the field. This program generally has been done completely and the ability of farmers to produce compost using MOL as activator is the indicator of successful. Compost has been used as fertilizer in their paddy fields.
