Abstract

A bioavailability study of paracetamol tablet using jackfruit starch (Arthocarpus heterophyllus Lamk) as binder has been carried out. Tablet were prepared by wet granulatin containing 20% jack fruit starch (FA) and as standard tablet containing 10% cassava starch 10% w/v as binder was used (FB) The study was perfomed using three ways cross over designs on six male rabbits of 1,6 kg body weight which had the same age and food habit. Plasma levels were analyzed by Bratton-Marshal method and absorbances were measured spectrophotometrically. Results showed that the pharmacokinetic parameters of paracetamol after the administration of tablet with jack fruit starch, were not significantly different from that with cassava starch. The relative bioavailability of the two kinds of tablet in comparison to innovator tablets were 99,64 % and 106,30 % respectively. Keywords : Bioavailibility, Prasetamol, Jackfruit Starch.
