Abstract

The objective of this research was to evaluate economics performance of plastic mulch application on red chili pepper. The research was conducted in Kinari village, from May to June 1998. The respondents are chili pepper farmers. The result showed that plastics mulch applica- tion can increase average yield 920 kg/ha. However this is not enough to recommend to the farmers. The next steps, economics analysis have to conduct to know the profitable of plastics rnulch applications. Partial budget analysis showed that profitability of plastics mulch application depend on price of chili pepper. If the price of chili pepper less than Rp 6,702/kg, plastics mulch applicafion will be not profitable.
