Abstract
It was investigated the inhibition of conosion of ASSAB 760 steel in synthetic and natural seawater by using tannin. The method used was gravimetric with measuring weight lost of specimen during corrosion process. The results indicated that the tannin compound inhibit the corrosion rate of ASSAB 760 steel on optimum concentration, namely 2000 ppm in synthetic and natural seawater. Inhibition efficiency of tannin was 49.31% in synthetic seawater and 41.57 % in natural seawater. On synthetic seawater, increasing of NaCI and Na2SO4 concentration would increase corrosion rate, but increasing of MgCI2.6H2O and CaCl2 would decrease corrosion rate.
