Abstract

The effect of subtitution of native grass with ammoniated Palm press fiber (AT-PPF) on microbial protein synthesis and characteristics of ruminal condition were investigated. The experiment was conducted in a 4x4 Latin Square Design, involving 4 Pesisir cattle with and average initial body weight of 103 + 4 kE and 4 experimental diets: A: 0o/o AT-PPF + 50o native grass + 50yo concentrate. B: 16,670 AT PPF + 33,33%o native grass + 50o/o concentrate, C: 33,34yo AT ppF +16,66c native grass + 50Yo concentrate and D:50%6 AT PPF + 50Yo concentrate. The characteristics of ruminal condition were measured on a rumen fistulated cattle by using completely randomized design in 4x4 factorial arrangements. Factor A was 4 different experimental diets and factor B was observation time ( 0,2,4, 6 hours after feediig). The result of experiment showed that substitution of native grass with ammoniated palm pressed fiber in the ration did not significantly affect (P>0,05) excretion of urinary purine derivative, total and efficiency of microbial protein synthesis. However, the treatment significantly reduced (P<0,05) concentration of ruminally NH3-N and total VFA. These findings suggest that ammoniated palm pressed fiber could be used for subtitution of native grass up to 100% or 50oh in the ration of local cattle.
