Abstract

Garlic (Allium sativum L.) plantlet growth in vilro on sucrose concentration and light intensity and their tolerant in acclimatization was conducted at Laboratory of Plant tissue culture, Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture Andalas University in Padang. The experiment was starting from March 9fr to August 9tr 1998. The objective of the experiment was to find out the effect of sucrose concentration and light intensity on garlic plantlets growth. Factorial experiment were arranged in a Completely Block Randomized Design with three replication. The first factors was concentration of sucrose l.e 3, 4, and 5%o. The second factors was light intensity i.e 4000, 6000, 6000 and 8000 lux. Data werd analyzndby analysis of varians and Duncatr's Multiple Rang Test. Light intensity were significant on increase of plant growth in the second and third week, and amount of roots in the second week observation. lncrease of height plant, amount of teaves, and diameter were decreased 33.98 %,7.l8 % and l3%o respectively when light intensity increased, however increase of weight plant and amount of roots were increase l9.67oh and l6-42yo respectively. The increase of sucrose concentration have no effect to the weight and weight of plant, amount of leaf and root and diameter of system. Light intensity of 4000 lux have shown the best growth of garlic planlets in increased of height plan! amount of leaf and diameter. Meanwhile the plant weight and the amount of roots have the best growth in 6000 lux ofiight intensity. Plantlet growth in light intensity of 4000 lux and concenfration of40 g.l-r sucrose combination have the best perform in acclimatization.
