Abstract

A Study about the inducing of peat soil decomposition and N (nitrogen) available of corn plants by using Trichoderma sp was conducted in the green house and the laboratory of Soil Science of Agriculture Faculty of Andalas University from December 1997 to September 1998. The objectives of this study are (l) to study the capability of Trichoderma sp increasing peat soil decomposition and N available, (2)to study the capability of Trichoderma sp and N levels in applied to increase of N uptake and corn growth. This research was arranged in two series experiment by using two types experimental design: In first series we use the Completely Randomized Design by 4 levels of Trichoderma sp inoculant : without inoculation, 25, 50, 75 g/kg dry weight of peat soil with 3 replications, and in the second series we use the Completely Randomized Design of Factorial-4x4 with 3 replications. The treatments were 4 levels of Trichoderma sp inoculant : 25, 50,75 gram inoculant/kg dry weight of peat soil and 4 levels of N fertilizer : 50, 100,150 kg.N/Ha. The best result in the first series was occured at application of Trichoderma inoculant 75 g.kg-r of peat soil . This treatment can decrease of C-organic (4.42o/o), and of C/N ratio (63.8), increasing of N contents (0.172Yo) and increasing of Cation Exchange Capacity content (3.63 mc.l00 g-'1. t'he highesl N uptake and dry rnattcr wcight was found at combination of is g.kg-' Trichoderma inoculant with 150 kg.N.ha-r in the second series. Key word : decomposition, peat, inoculant
