Abstract

This article discuss ways to invercome prostitution. which continues lo increas year by year. in West Sumatera. It is argued that there are many interrelated factors causing women to become prostitues. two most important ones are the degree of people's tolence toward adultery and the availability of opportunity for women and men to do sexual intercourse on the basis of economic transaction. Therefore. to reduce the practice of prostitution in West Sumatra one must addres the problem of increasing permissiveness toward adultery and the availabitility ol oportunity to carry out the business in the region.
