Abstract

Abstract Moslem social scientists continue to hold the idea of the dichotomy between the religiosity and the social science approach. Among economists, the dichotomic view has begun to decrease. What is the view of Minangkabau moslem anthropologists on the issue? By studying their Ph.D theses it is lvtown that on the Ievel of superstructure, they agree with the idea of developing anthropologt in Islamic perspectives. In their reseqrch, there qre some points of religiosity, such qs in choosing the object of research qnd in describing the relation bet*n-een Minangkabau customs and Islam. But, they have no ability in developing research in Islamic perspectives because of their limited knowledge in the Islamic views of social research.
