Abstract

This article analyses the indigenous people's perception on immigrants in Mentawai Archipelago. Immigrants in this respect consist of Minangkabau, Javanese, Batak, Nias and European. This paper reveals that the indigenous people's perceptions on immigrants are influenced by ethnicity, culture and religion of the immigrants, and there is no contlict of interestfound between the indigenous people and immigrants. This is due to the synbiottc relationship between them.
