Abstract

It has been investigated, sinthesize of some aril-p- methoxysinamamides from ethyltrans-p-methoxycinnamate, (1) via ammonolysis of its acid chloride. In this experiment, ethyl-trans-p-methoxycinnamate was hydrolyzed into p-methoxy- cinnamic acid (2) and this acid was converted into its chloride acid, p-methoxycinnamoil chloride. Ammonolysis of p-methoxycinnamoil chloride with a series of aromalls amines, aniline, p-methoxyaniline (p-anisidin), p-nitroaniline and p-aminophenol gave p- methoxycinnamanilide (3), p-methoxycinn amaniside (4), p-methorycinam-4-nitroanilide (5), p-methoxycinnam-4-aminophenol (6) and N,O-(bis-p-methoxycinnamoil)-4-aminophenol (7) as by products. Ethyl p-methoxycinnamate was isolated from kencur, Kaempfeia galanga L. and structural elucidation of all compounds was confirmed by spectroscopic methods.
