Abstract
Atomic absorption spectrophotometry has been utilized for indirect determination of cyanide. Cyanide ion forms a complex of cuprocyanide with copper. The complex euprocyanide formed was determined by atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry. The method utilized was passing a cyanide solution at pH 11 through a mini column filled with cupric sulfide, so that copper was released as cuprocyanide complex that was then determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. The results showed that a good correlation betwen absorbance and cyanide concentration with a correlation coefficient (r) of 0,9986. Detection limit of the method was 0,96 ppm and relative standart deviation at cyanide concentration of 10 ppm was 1,69% The method was applied for determine of cyanide in rubber tree seed. The cyanide content found was 0,0731%'
