Abstract

A pot experiment was carried out to study the effect of applied Sodium Chloride Salinity and Nitrogen fertilizer on the production, partitioning biomass NA, Cl and N content of Chines Spinach (Amaranthus tricolor L). The plant were grown in pots on regosol soil to which five salinity regimes (0; 2.5; 5.0; 7.5; and 10 g NaCl/pot) and three level N ferti- lizer (0; 34.5 and 69.0 Kg N/Ha) were applied. The result of the indicated that the biomass of root, stem, leaf and coeficient allo- cation biomass increased by NaCl salinity treatments at 2.5 g NaCl/pot level and de- creased at its level up 2.5 g/pot. The supressing effect of biomass production on higher salin- ity level were alleviated by N fertilization. Na and Cl contents of the root, stem and leaf increased, N level content decreased due to NaCl salinity. K was uptaked selectively as indicated by unreducing its content at the higher salinity level. N fertilizer tended to increase the biomass of plant, cooficient allocation biomass, Na content of organs and N leaf content but reduce K and Cl content of the organs especially in the leaf.
