Abstract

This activity is one of Lembaga Pengabdian Masyarakat Program in Andalas University. This activity about propagation and it's application to rice field in Koto Panjang village, Pauh County, Padang City has lasted in June to November 2000. This activity is mainly to promote using Azolla sp for increasing rice field and decreasing N fertilizer application. Beside that this activity also purpose for give demonstration to the fLrmers about how manner to propagate Azolla sp of the around farmer land and how to using Azolla sp for as N- fertilizer substitution. The activity was conducted as demonstration plot. The plot was designed for two plots i. e; Azolla sp plot without N-fertilizer and only N- Fertilizer Plot. From result of discussion among team and farmers group show that their people looked like have high responsive about this information because It will give many advantage and efficiency in mainly Nitrogen fertilizer application. Demonstration plot show that rice production of using Azolla sp plot and Nitrogen fertilizer plot have give same result. By using 10 ton/ha Azolla sp can decrease half of Urea application and increase rice field production uP to 4,37 ton/ha.
