Abstract

The Use of induction machine as a stand-alone Self-Excitedl lnduction Generator (SEIG) have many advantages over conventional synchronous generator due to its low maintenance, low cost, absecnce of de source, inherent overload protection, good transient performance and simple operation. However, this generator has poor quality in the voltage regulation when it is used for electric power generation driven by mycrohidro energy sources under varying load and speed conditions. To improve the SEIG voltage regulation at desired voltage, the adjustable reactive power generator is equipped in the SEIG to maintain reactive power during variation of speed and load. The SEIG with fixed and variable capacitors connected in parallel to the stator terminal is better than other modes to regulate the terminal voltage of the SEIG. The proposed SEIG model with proposed voltage regulator could be carried out to solve its poor voltage regulation during variation of load and speed.
