Abstract

Semiconductor Photocatalysis like TiO2, ZnO, CdS and ZnS can act as sensitizer in Photodestruction of a range of contaminants. This experiment was conducted to study the effect of ZnO semiconductor photocatalyst on water humic substances destruction. Result of the experiment showed that ellumination of mixture of 25 ml of water humic substances and 100 mg of ZnO powder in 105 minites with sunlight as energy source of the photocatalyst, gave 84,21 % of destruction. Half time, rate constant and quantum yield of the process were respectively 111,39 minutes, 1,06 x 10-3 minutes-l and 0,727 molecul photon-1.
