Abstract

An experiment conducted to evaluate the best qualify of mulch to produce dry matter, and high nutritive value of king grass. The randomized block design was used as experimental method in the research, with four treatments (kinds of mulch) such as : A (with out mulch), B (straw rice), C (husk rice), and D (saw dust) witli three replications. To obtaine the best quality of king grass, fresh weight, dry matter production, crude protein and crude fiber contents used as parameter. The result showed that the effect of several mulch was significant different (P<0-05) to all parameter. However the mulch of straw rice has the best performance (fresh weight production : 48,43 ton/ha, dry matter prcduction =6,43 ton/ha, crude protein contents : 16,95%, and crude fiber contents = 27,79 %) to increase nutritive value of king grass.
