Abstract

An experiment was conducted to evaluate the utilization of treated rice straw (amoniation and fermentation) as beef cattle feed. The animals were arranged according to a 4 x 4 Latin Square Design to the following experimental diets that is: A. 50 % Forage + 50 % concentrate B. 25 % Forage + 25 % Amoniated Rice Straw + 50 % Concentrate C. 25 % Forage + 25 % Fermented rice straw + 50 % Concentrate D. 25 % Forage + 12.5 % Amoniated Rice straw + 12.5 % Fermented Rice straw + 50 % Concentrate The results of the experiment indicated that not significantly (P<0.05) different among treatment means on dry matter consumption, gain and feed eficiency of beef cattle. It indicated that utilizing of treated rice straw in the ration gave similar result with control in several parameters measured. The best result showed that utilizing of combination of treated rice straw ( amoniated and fermented) up to 25 % in the ration or as asubstitution of 50 % forage (grass) for beef cattle.
